Sam Balto (aka Coach Balto) is a Physical Education teacher and Safe Routes to School Champion in Portland, OR. He’s an “Oregon Walks Weston Winner” for his innovative programs to get kids on bikes and learning how to safely ride to school. Many mornings you’ll see Sam leading a large group of kids on a Bike Bus to their Portland school. A Bike Bus is a group of people who cycle together on a set route following a set timetable. According to Sam, “A Bike Bus is a chance to bring community together, enjoy physical activity and have fun!” You’ll leave this talk inspired to help create a Bike Bus for your neighborhood!
